Black Glass CMS
Content Management, Rebuilt for the Edge

A modern, schema-driven headless CMS built from scratch on a fully Cloudflare-deployed stack. Sleek dark admin interface designed for real content workflows — not another generic white dashboard with a dark mode toggle.
The CMS Problem

Every CMS Asks You to
Compromise on Something

WordPress is everywhere but it's slow, bloated, and a security liability. Contentful and Sanity are powerful but expensive, opinionated, and lock your content model into their proprietary formats. Strapi and Directus are open-source but require you to run your own infrastructure and deal with someone else's architectural decisions.

We wanted a CMS that was schema-driven (content models in code, not in a UI), edge-native (fast everywhere without infrastructure management), and built for real workflows (not just "create and publish"). Nothing on the market checked all three boxes.

So we built it.

Features

What Black Glass Does

Schema-Driven Content Modeling
Define your content structure with schemas, not drag-and-drop builders. Every content type, every field, every relationship — declared in code, version-controlled, and deployable. Your content model is an engineering artifact, not a UI configuration.
Truly Headless Architecture
Your frontend is your business. Black Glass delivers content via API and stays out of the way. Nuxt, Next, Astro, mobile apps, digital signage — whatever consumes your content, Black Glass serves it.
Fully Cloudflare-Deployed
Workers for compute, D1 for data, R2 for assets, KV for caching. The entire stack runs on Cloudflare's global edge network — meaning your CMS admin and API are fast everywhere, not just near your data center.
The Black Glass Interface
A sleek, dark admin experience built for people who spend hours in their CMS. Not a generic white dashboard with a dark mode toggle — a purpose-designed dark interface that reduces eye strain and looks like it belongs in 2026.
Real Content Workflows
Draft, review, approve, publish, schedule, archive. Content moves through stages that match how teams actually work — not a simplified "save and publish" that forces you to bolt on external workflow tools.
Version Control Built In
Every edit, every publish, every revision — tracked and reversible. Compare versions side by side, roll back to any point in time, and never lose content to an accidental overwrite again.
The Stack

100% Cloudflare.
Zero Traditional Infrastructure.

Cloudflare Workers
Serverless compute at the edge. Every API request, every admin action runs on the nearest Cloudflare PoP — sub-50ms response times globally without provisioning a single server.
Cloudflare D1
SQLite at the edge. Relational data where it belongs — with the schema integrity and query flexibility that document databases sacrifice. Your content model stays clean.
Cloudflare R2
S3-compatible object storage with zero egress fees. Images, documents, media assets — stored globally and served fast without the bandwidth bill that makes S3 painful at scale.
Cloudflare KV
Global key-value caching for the hot paths. Published content gets cached at the edge so your frontend reads hit KV, not the database — millisecond delivery worldwide.
Why Black Glass

Not Another CMS.
A Better Foundation.

Built From Scratch, Not Forked
Black Glass isn't a theme on top of Strapi, a fork of Directus, or a wrapper around Contentful's API. Every line of code was written with intention — no inherited technical debt, no "we'll fix it later" compromises baked into the foundation.
Schema-First, Not UI-First
Most CMS platforms let you click together a content model in a GUI. That's fine for a blog. For anything serious, you need your content model in code — reviewable, version-controlled, and deployable across environments without clicking through settings screens.
Edge-Native, Not Cloud-Migrated
Black Glass was designed for the edge from the start, not retrofitted onto it. The architecture assumes global distribution, not a single-region database with a CDN in front. That distinction matters when your content needs to be fast everywhere.
Development Status

Built in the Open. Shipping Soon.

Black Glass is the CMS that will power this very website — and eventually, client projects through Pfaff Digital. It's being built with the same production-grade standards we apply to everything: stable, tested, and designed to run without drama.
